An attractive house built in 2013. Incorporating a solar panel on the front, south facing roof slope as a condition of planning consent being granted.
According to the owner the panel provides, in the summer months, enough hot water for a family of three.
It can take many years to recover your outlay if you pay for your own installation. Currently, there is no hard evidence that renewable energy sources such as this, in isolation, significantly add to value. However, if you buy with the installation in place there is a clear benefit.
Make sure you actually own the panels, that they are not owned by a company who “rent your roof space”, and importantly ensure the roof was properly surveyed beforehand and strengthened as necessary to take the increased loading.
