Following on from the previous staircase photograph I took this shot in a much larger and high quality Leicester house when conducting a “Heritage Survey”.
Unusually, the purpose was to provide a detailed written and photographic record of all the property’s features before it was demolished to make way for a development of flats. This was a condition of the planning consent.
How lucky. The house was not Listed but was noted for it’s Art Deco features. Just look at the quality of the staircase and leaded light landing window. I understand a number of features such as this window are to be incorporated in the new development as a “nod” to the history of the site.
