Asbestos comes in many shapes and sizes. As it was used in the UK house building industry until the 1990s (unbelievably) it can be found in many parts of your home: “Artex” ceiling finishes, vinyl floor tiles, garage roofs and even cold water tanks as the pictures show.
Clearly, you would want to remove the water tanks. However, as long as the asbestos material itself remains in good condition there is no need to panic. The real danger comes from inhaling dust and fibres if it becomes damaged. So, take great care with repairs and alterations, drilling holes in ceilings for a new light fitting and so on.
